Police Arrest Two Over Murder Of Officer’s Wife In Gombe

 

The Gombe State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the armed robbery and murder of the wife of a serving police officer at Wuro Shie Quarters in Gombe.

The suspects were identified as 20-year-old Muhammad Bashir Sale, alias "Full," and 18-year-old Musa Sale Ahmad, alias "Abba," both residents of Wuro Shie Quarters.

They were arrested on Saturday, September 26, 2026, hours after the incident.

The Command disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi.

According to the statement, the incident occurred at about 4:35 a.m. on September 26, when armed men with machetes and cutlasses stormed the residence of Inspector Salisu Waziri, attached to the Safer Highway Patrol.

The assailants reportedly attempted to rob the officer's wife, Mrs. Aishatu Salisu, of her mobile phone.

The police said the victim raised an alarm during the attack, prompting one of the attackers to stab her with a machete before fleeing the scene, leaving the phone behind.

"Upon receipt of the report, the Pantami Divisional Patrol Team immediately mobilised to the scene and rushed the victim to the Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe, where she was unfortunately certified dead," the statement read.

Following the attack, the Command commenced investigation and intensified efforts to track down those responsible.

Police said preliminary investigation led to the arrest of the two suspects, who have confessed to the crime. One sharp knife was also recovered as an exhibit.

The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Gombe, for further investigation.

Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Ahmed Chuso, has directed a discreet and thorough investigation to ensure all culpable persons are brought to justice.

The Command assured residents of its commitment to protecting lives and property and urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious persons and movements to the nearest police formation.
